Dancing with mask , an ancient Nuo sacrifice ritual,prevails in Pingwu county and Nanping county of Sichuan province as well as in Baima Tibetan Area of Gansu province which is held on the sixth day of the first month in Chinese lunar calendar.At that day,dancers will put different masks on their faces with various patterns of gods and wear special costumes.The ritual is aimed at worshiping the god,keeping off evil spirits,blessing for a whole year’s peace and bumper harvest.It also has a significant academic value to know the generation of primitive art,mentality of primitive ancestors and so on.
